Ceiling Tile Cutter & Other Labor Saving Devices.

A very large paging system presented the opportunity to figure out how to cut holes for loudspeakers in 2,000 standard ceiling tiles.  Speed, accuracy, and dust control were considered important factors.  The photos show the equipment that I designed and built which saved literally hundreds of hours.

Tiles are removed from the ceiling and brought to a central location where the tile cutter is set up.

Custom work tables support the ceiling tile and position the back can.

The tile bridge is laid over the back can.

The tile is laid over the tile bridge and backcan, the speaker is set in place and tightened.

The finished tiles are slid into the wheeled storage cart and moved to the work area.
